It's time to play chess! ... or, to spectate some chess actually. Those are two very weird players though, that often won't respect chess rules that easily. They will try to cheat their opponents  at every move, so try to catch those !

HOW TO PLAY:

You can pause the game at any moments with the exclamation mark (!) on the top right. A list of rule breaking moves will appear on the right, click on one, and target the piece / square to prove it. Here's the list of them, and how to prove them.

  • NoMove: A player hasn't played during his turn. Prove it by clicking on the clock on the player's side. You have until the end of the opponent turn to do so.
  • Illegal: A player made an illegal move by the rules of chess (you can check them online). Prove it by clicking on the piece that made the illegal move.
  • Switching: A player switched two pieces. Prove it by clicking on both of them.
  • Adding: A player added a piece on the board.  Prove it by clicking on it.
  • Removing: A player removed a piece from the board. Prove it by clicking on it.
  • Opponent: A player moved a piece of the opponent. Prove it by clicking on it.

Game was made in 48h for the GMTK Game Jam 2023.

Game jam notes:

- The game is inspired by Paper's please. Hence the name.

- Doing it in 8bit was definitely a mistake for readability. The chess pieces became really hard to do.

- I'm not good with UI lmao.

- And no music (as usual, I didn't have time at all to even try)

Sound design was made thanks to sounds uploaded to Freesound.org.
